Wortham received his formal training at Oberlin Conservatory of Music studying with Robert Willoughby.While at Oberlin he won the prestigious Senior Concerto Competition(1984) performing the Ibert concerto.Prior to Oberlin,his studies were in Baltimore with Timothy Day at the Peabody Conservatory Prep Division.He has performed as a participant in the Masterclasses of Bernard Goldberg,Jeffrey Khaner,Bonita Boyd,the Late Julius Baker and the Late Murray Panitz.
